Design is the quintessential creative industry. We believe that it is the best word that encapsulates the union of commerce, creativity and culture today. Design combines creativity, ideas, skills, innovation and strategic thinking to improve everyday life. In the exploration of America we will use the British definition of design* that encompasses the 26 disciplines listed below. During our trip we will specifically be looking at the role of design in: building sustainable futures in cities, branding places, attracting tourists and visitors, regeneration and building communities.
