Hotel Saint Cecilia
Hotel Saint Cecilia is a secluded estate in Austin’s South Congress district. Named in honor of the patron saint of music and poetry these accommodations take inspiration from the experimentation of 60’s writers like William Burroughs, the daring and extravagance of groups like the Stones in the early 70’s, and the defiance of convention embodied by artists like Miro and Warhol in the late 50’s and early 60’s.

Each of the five distinct suites, six poolside bungalows, and three studios that span this private wooded property have been designed and furnished to stir the poet and artist in each visitor. The only instruction they offer guests is borrowed from the composer’s lexicon: a bene placito – pacing is up to the performer. The Saint Cecilia is a fascinating place in the heart of Austin.

Hotel San Jose
The Hotel San Jose is located on South Congress Avenue, a few blocks south of where the Colorado River runs through downtown Austin. Nestled behind stucco walls in the heart of the hippest neighborhood in the city, the San Jose has been transformed into an urban, bungalow-style hotel. Built in 1939 as an “ultramodern motor court,” the hotel is part of the fabric of downtown Austin – a hotel with a soul.

If you are feeling inspired the hotel will loan you a Remington Premier typewriter to start your novel or a Polaroid camera to snap you favorite scenes of the city. If inspiration is lacking then just chill out to the local tunes at Jo’s Coffee where you can catch a film during Rock n’ Reel on Thursday nights.
