Hi -

A collegue mentioned this project to me after meeting you at AFTA. In looking at your stops in Phoenix, I thought I'd suggest a few. While in town, take the light rail from Central and Camelback towards downtown. Stop first at Stinkweeds Records and Frances Boutique to get a sense of local craft and the music scene. A few blocks south, hit LUX and Pane Bianco on Central, next to what was once Passage (now closed). Once downtown, there are several retail/ dining stops worth noting such as Bunky Boutique, The Roosevelt Tavern, Cibo and more. All of these businesses support local art and design efforts. To fully appreciate the creative initiatives taken by residents, visit Modified on Roosevelt Street where music and visual art is the focus. On Grand Avenue you'll find other artist run spaces such as the Chocolate Factory and (just a bit north) Tilt Gallery. The convention center is a must as it's home to a stunning Louise Bourgouis sculpture as well as many other works of art (part of the Phoenix Public Art Municipal Collection). One last must is a visit to Civic Space Park at night.

I could go on and on but I'm sure that you're pretty booked already. Best wishes on your journey~
